This website may be your first glimpse of South Carolina Massage & Esthetics Institute. We welcome your exploration of our school and encourage you to visit one of our campuses and meet our friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Massage therapy is one of the fastest growing professions in alternative health care. Esthetics embodies more than outer beautification. The past decade has seen a resurgence of interest in the healing nature of touch, disease prevention, and complementary approaches to health and skin care. Newsweek and Time Magazine have both reported that more people are spending their health care dollars in complementary medicine settings than ever before.
No longer are massages and facials limited to the elite. Massage is being practiced in a myriad of settings: health clubs and spas, corporate offices, private clinics and in association with other health care practitioners such as chiropractors, physical therapists, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, dentists and psychologists. Estheticians are now working with dermatologists and plastic surgeons, in salons and spas, for large cosmetics companies and as make-up artists to the stars! Well-trained and motivated individuals can create their own niche in this exciting and expanding marketplace.
As you consider the possibilities of a career in massage therapy or esthetics, keep in mind that the quality of your training is directly related to the degree of your success. Yet, as one who may not be familiar with these fields, the process of selecting a training facility can be confusing. You must begin the process of becoming an informed consumer yourself.
We recommend that you request catalogs from a variety of schools in your area and elsewhere. Visit as many schools as you can, even if you are inclined to attend the one that is geographically closest for convenience. Compare what you will get for your money, the condition and ambiance of the facility, experience of the staff, furnishings and teaching equipment, and school philosophy. Realize that this will be your “home away from home” for six months or more and then choose the one that is right for all your needs.
Please feel free to call the South Carolina Massage & Esthetics Institute and arrange to tour our facilities. We can also schedule a time for you to sit in on one or more of our classes. We are always happy to share our visions and goals with other like-minded and caring individuals.
Good luck in your search, and thank you visting our school website.
